THE VICARAGE
Seven years into the reign of Queen Victoria in 1844 ,Trenoweth House was built in the Gothic style for the vicar of St Crewenna’s church in Crowan and the new vicarage became part of local village lifed. It was designed by the renowned architect JP St Aubyn - scion of the St Aubyn family of the nearby Clowance Estate who had also completed refurbishment work on St Crewenna’s in the village. Over the years, not only was it a vicarage to several local vicars but in the 60’s, it was also home to an egg packing business. In 2016, the RIBA architect Amin Taha completed many of the recent alterations including refurbishing several outhouses and the Great Hall and as the house stands today, it is an evocative mix of Gothic Victorian and 21st century modernity.
